Uncharted.

Uncharted.  There is a great artist, Sara Bareilles, that I’ve been listening to when I sit out on the patio at Bryn Mawr Rehab during my “rest” time.  Here’s how the song starts, and it just pulls you in from there.. “No words, My tears won’t make any room for more, And it don’t hurt like anything I’ve ever felt before, this is no broken heart, No familiar scars, This territory goes uncharted.”

Don’t Give Up. Don’t Ever Give Up.

Original Email Date- September 8, 2011

Everyone, Since I last emailed you, so much has transpired.  It’s been a long, strange trip since I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre.  But, as Jimmy V said in his 1993 Espy Speech— “Don’t Give Up.  Don’t Ever Give Up…”  I’m a Carney, giving up is not in our DNA 🙂

How am I doing?

Original Email Date- August 25, 2011

Hi everyone, I wanted to take a second to send a quick email to let you know how I’m doing.  Most importantly, I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support that I’ve gotten from old friends— from St Rose, to MSJA, to Kings, to all the different parts of my life.  You can’t imagine how much an email, card, flowers or even a quick text truly brightens my day.  So from the bottom of my heart, I thank you so very much.

Suzy has left the Building!

Original Email Date- August 20, 2011

Hi everyone. Good news!  I was released last night from Abington. I’ve been sent to a rehab hospital, no not that kind although I am going into bud light lime withdrawal 🙂

I’m at bryn mawr rehab hospital in paoli. It’s beautiful with a 200 acre campus, greenhouse, family playroom and flat screen tvs everywhere.  I got outside today to sit in the veranda and got a mini tour of my floor. Its pretty nice here!

I start intensive therapy today and expect a few hours of physical and occupational therapy each day. Simple things like drying my hair and getting dressed are challenging for now, but not for long!  I’m cruising through the halls already in my wheelchair!

My cell service stinks in this joint, and I’m not in my room much as I have three sessions of therapy.  If you play words with friends, keep the games coming. Need to keep the mind sharp!

Visiting hours are from 4-9 pm during the week and noon to 9 on the weekends.  If anyone wants to stop by,  give me a call or text so I can let you know my schedule.

I should be in here for two weeks or so and the promise is that I will walk out of here on my own strong legs.

Keep the love and prayers coming. They keep me strong every day.

If I missed anyone, please forward along.

Love you much
Suz
